Educational and methodological support of students’ foreign training of higher technical education institutions of Ukraine (the 50–60 years of the twentieth century)

Abstract

The article is devoted to the research of the tendencies concerning educational and methodological support of students’ foreign language training in higher technical education institutions of Ukraine in 50-60 years of the twentieth century. It has been emphasized that the study of the foreign language became a priority, foreign language was an indispensable component of the future specialists’ professional training.
It has been noted that the considerable interest of the Soviet Union leadership in the study of foreign languages during in the 50-60’s of the XX century was represented at the legislative level through the Order of the Ministry of Higher Education of the USSR «On Improving Foreign Language Teaching in Higher Education» (September 21, 1955; No. 953) and Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR «On Improving the Study of Foreign Languages» (May 27, 1961; No. 468), which influenced the intensification of various educational and methodological development of providing foreign language training for students of higher technical education institutions of Ukraine.
The attention is drawn to the basic textbooks and manuals used during the educational process in the course of future engineers’ foreign language training in higher education institutions, in particular, «English Textbook for Higher Technical Education Institutions» (Krasynska M., Holovina I.; 1957 р.; 1959 р.), «English Textbook for Higher Technical Education Institutions» (Hundrizer V., Landa A.; 1960 р.; 1961 р.; 1963 р.), «English Textbook» (Shevaldyshev A., Suvorov S., Korndorf B.; 1945 р.; 1952 р.; 1953 р.; 1955 р.), «Practical Course in German» (Zavialova V., Kosarieva L.; 1967 р.), «German Textbook for Higher Education Institutions» (Erlikh E., Trimm A., Volf L.; 1958 р.; 1960 р.) and others.
