THE INFLUENCE OF SOCIO-POLITICAL PROCESSES ON THE FORMATION OF SCHOOL LITERARY EDUCATION IN UKRAINE IN THE 90S OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY

Abstract

The article analyzes the influence of socio-political transformations on the system of literary education in Ukrainian schools during the 1990s. They emphasize that this period marked the transition from the Soviet era to Ukraine's independence and the establishment of a new society.
In addition, this research examines the impact of political changes on the content, methods, and approaches to teaching literary education in Ukrainian schools. The authors note that the liberation from totalitarian paradigms led to active changes in educational programs, including in the field of literary education. The expansion of freedom of choice and an increased emphasis on the development of critical thinking in domestic literary education resulted in changes in methodological approaches and the importance of studying specific aspects of literature.
In this context, it should be noted that the transition from totalitarian paradigms to new socio-political conditions led to changes in key aspects of teaching and assimilating literary culture in Ukrainian schools in the 1990s. The systemic transformations in Ukraine during this period defined a new context for education, including for the subject of "Ukrainian literature".
In the context of the changing socio-cultural environment, there was an active review of educational programs, including methodological approaches to the study of literature. The reform in this area took into account important aspects of societal development, emphasizing the importance of certain elements of the course aimed at developing students’ critical thinking.
By shifting the focus in educational programs, literature teachers had the opportunity to stimulate the development of students’ freedom of choice and critical thinking. The processes of studying literature were not limited to the acquisition of theoretical knowledge but also contributed to the analysis, discussion, and critical interpretation of artistic works in the context of contemporary socio-political realities.
