Theoretical justification of communicative competency of future seafarers
Abstract
The article considers and clarifies the concept of communicative competency of marine specialists, as well as substantiates the importance of communicative competency of a marine specialist in his professional activities.
The conditional division of the formation process of three historical periods of studying communicative competency is indicated. In the late 1960s – early 1970s of the XX century, the first attempts were made to define communicative competency within the ability to apply linguistic competency in various situations. Gradually, the essence and structure of communicative competence was expanded and filled with new content. Since the 1980s of the last century, communicative competency has been analyzed by scientists taking into account the psychological basis of personality. Since 2000, the communicative approach has been actively implemented in educational institutions with professional training of specialists in various fields.
The scientific achievements of domestic and foreign researchers on the essence of this concept are analyzed. In their scientific works, they argue that communicative competency should be understood as the use of verbal and nonverbal means of communication during education and upbringing in order to interact with people in different social and domestic situations. Communicative competencies, which are based on knowledge, skills, abilities, ways of communicative activity and manifestations of emotional and value attitude to it, are components of the basis of communicative competency.
Based on the analysis of the scientific literature, the definition of the concept of “communicative competency” of marine specialists is proposed. It has been found to be a key competence of maritime workers, as the specificity of the profession requires constant contact among people and the performance of their daily duties.
