The problem of creating the ideal of education in the context of the historical development of domestic education
Abstract
The article considers the formation of the ideal of education in historical retrospect. The author of the article analyzes whether it is worth talking about the universal ideal of education, which contributes to the observance of universal culture for peace and the formation of a responsible citizen. The question is whether there is a common ideal that could satisfy all segments of the population and be the basis of the general social educational ideal, whether to include in the concept of the national educational ideal a religious component.
The ideas of H. Vashchenko, O. Vyshnevsky, supporters of the traditional Ukrainian ideal, which they formulate as a service to God and the Motherland, are analyzed. It points to the contradiction and illogicality of some of their postulates, which simplify the realities of life, do not promote mutual understanding between representatives of different segments of the population, threaten to incite public hatred. Among the contradictions of H. Vashchenko's concept, the author attributes the actual prevalence of national interests over Christian and confessional over Christian interests. The author considers the weakening of H. Vashchenko's concept to be excessive idealization, heroization of historical times, which, in the opinion of the scientist, should serve to ignite the sacrificial love for the Motherland of young Ukrainians.
Based on the ideas of H. Vashchenko, O. Vyshnevsky, the author of the article raises the question: what kind of education do we want for our children in Ukraine, among whom are Catholics, Greek Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox of "different kinds", including "unwanted", atheists, Muslims, etc., and all of them are citizens of Ukraine?
It is argued that in Ukraine there is a need to form a nationwide educational ideal, taking into account the ethnic and religious diversity of the Ukrainian nation, if Ukraine seeks to become a nation of citizens who voluntarily want to live together.
